Are You Ready To Reap The Rewards Of Letting Go Of Unhealthy Habits?

by | Jan 12, 2022

Here we are in week 3 of Create and Live A Life You Love. It is so important that we take care of ourselves. The mental health crisis, sick leaves, burnout, staff retention, personal and family stressors continue and you need your body to be in premium form to address these challenges.

We are all better employees, better leaders, better parents, and better partners when we make sure we are taking care of ourselves. When we come from that place of knowing we are 100% responsible for our choices freedom and self-love follow. It all starts with the decision to be kind to ourselves.

We know through many studies done by Harvard, that when people write down their goals and they have them somewhere visible, the probability of them achieving them is much greater than anybody who doesn’t take the time to write down their goals. That’s why in Week 1 of this series, I invited you to write down your goals. The simple act of putting them down on paper already increases the likelihood you will achieve them.

In keeping with that same theme, I want you to be aware that as you are creating the life you want, that you’ve got that list. You want to make sure that physically, you are in optimal shape and that your brain is working at its highest level. In order to do this, there are certain things that will fast-track your results.

Probably the biggest thing you can do is to make sure you are letting go of unhealthy habits in order to lean into something that will be a game-changer.

Over the holidays I noticed I got into an unhealthy habit when I would watch tv where I would eat a snack and not always the best kind if you know what I mean. I seem to have associated watching TV with snacking.

Now that I have started the habit of not eating after dinner it helps me. It helps my digestion. I sleep better. I wake up with more energy. I am tackling the day very differently and with more confidence than before.

Here is what I’d like you to think about: What is the one activity you will let go of so you lean into having that physically solid and very strong body, mind, and spirit?

Let’s look at the possible end results. You are now into 2022 and you are doing the happy dance. It is very possible that two months from now you’ll be doing the happy dance even more because of these goals you are achieving one by one. In order for that to happen, you need to have your mind, your body, and your spirit in the game. It is doing these little habits consistently that pay huge dividends.

Discipline is the highest form of self-love.

How does that help your culture at work? It’s powerful!

Who hasn’t come into 2022 feeling they need to take better care of their body so they sleep better, their clothes fit better, healthier for their stomach or bowels or any other reasons? At your next team meeting or call with a friend share your written goals and action steps to achieve them. This only strengthens the relationship. If each individual is taking some time and creating that possibility list, each individual is deciding they need an Accountability Buddy for their physically fit room.

They need someone to:

  • Work out with
  • Go for a walk with
  • Swap healthy recipes with
  • Make sure they take a lunch break by taking one together

Those are the kinds of things you can do in your physically fit room that will be game-changers for everybody involved.

I’d love to hear what game-changer habit you found in your physically fit room. And as always, please feel free to share this with a friend. You never know, you might just find a new Accountability Buddy!

BE more kind to yourself.
BE more compassionate.
Be more forgiving.
Be more loving.

Remember, you are a Powerhouse.

Wishing you a powerful week.
