Did You Know That It Is Time To Focus On YOU?

In our next four-part series, we will be focusing on taking the focus and putting it back onto you as a leader. Whether you are a middle manager or a senior leader, it is time for YOU!

We know that right now we are dealing with a Burnout Epidemic. I can easily say that 100% of the leaders I am working with, whether middle managers or senior leaders are experiencing a serious burnout.

It is time to take the focus and put it back on YOU.

As you know, all of my video series are based on the four rooms (Mentally Fit Room, Emotionally Fit Room, Physically Fit Room, and Spiritually Fit Room) that I talk about in my book The Powerhouse In You: How to lead with greater resilience, courage and confidence.

Today, we are going to focus on your Mentally Fit Room.

Here is a quote that I know I shared before but I think it is so worthy of repeating.

Take care of your health now or take care of your illness later. You chose.

This serves as a reminder that is time to put the focus back on YOU. What is it that YOU really need right now? Mentally, what are YOU struggling with?

I’m going to come right out of the gate and give you your homework for the next week.

Who is it that you can talk to to help you unpack whatever unhealthy pattern you’ve got going on right now?

I’m finding that the leaders I am working with, are saying things like:

My garden is a mess.
My house is a mess.
My car is a mess.
My office is a mess.

They just feel so overwhelmed and that is a reflection of what is going on in their inside world.

First off, cut yourself some slack. You didn’t get a memo that told you how to navigate yourself and your team through the last few years. That is why it is time to focus on YOU.

Mentally, what do you need right now to support you as you go through what you are going through? Maybe it’s burnout and you are in the midst of it? Or maybe you are heading towards the other side or even already sitting on the bridge on the other side, this is the time to ask for help.

Talk with someone, be it:

  • A coach
  • A therapist
  • A mentor

Talk to anyone who can help unpack what you need to let go of mentally, which could be things like:

  • Imposter Syndrome
  • Confidence issues
  • Being so empty that you don’t know where to start and need someone to hold your hand

Your feelings are completely normal and I can assure you that you are not alone if you are struggling.
