Do You Find Yourself In Survival Mode?

by | Aug 10, 2021

Do you find yourself in Survival Mode?

If you answered yes, you are NOT alone!

During this pandemic, the thinking part of our brain, the one that allows us to have emotional regulation, critical thinking, and the ability to problem-solve, switches off.

Once that happens, the survival part of our brain kicks in.

This means that our brain is hyper-alert the time. It is convinced that there is something out there that will harm us. This is what we call Survival Mode and it causes all of our senses to be heightened.

Over the next 4 weeks, I’m going to visit each of my 4 rooms (Mentally Fit Room, Emotionally Fit Room, Physically Fit Room, and Spiritually Fit Room) and really tackle the issue of survival mode and how to break free from it.

Let’s start by walking into our Mentally Fit Room.

As you’ve just learned over the last 4 weeks, take that 10-second pause and really pay attention to what your Mentally Fit Room is trying to tell you. What are you feeling?

  • Fatigue?
  • Exhaustion?
  • A lack of focus?

Over the next 7 days, I invite you to simply have an awareness that these feelings are there. As you acknowledge these feelings, I then invite you to:

  • Be kinder to yourself
  • Build-in more time to do tasks
  • Know that you aren’t going to get things completed in the same timeline you might have before.

Much like climbing a ladder, we need to take it ONE STEP AT A TIME.

I’d love to hear from you to know what you are doing once you acknowledge your Survival Mode feelings. Send me an email ([email protected]) and let me know.

BE more kind to yourself.
BE more compassionate.
Be more forgiving.
Be more loving.

Remember, you are a Powerhouse.

Wishing you a powerful week.
