Have You Started Feeling That Sense Of Belonging To Yourself?

Here we are in our Spiritually Fit Room. How are you feeling lately? Are you feeling that sense of belonging to yourself?

Just to review, we talked in previous videos about how when you look at the bridge, fitting in and belonging are not at all the same thing. In fact, they are quite the opposite.

If I’m busy trying to fit in with you (for example by doing activities that bring you joy but don’t bring me joy) then what happens is that I am checking myself outside.

Some people think belonging comes from the Apps on their phone, that is is found in the number of likes on their posts and the size of their following. There is nothing further from the truth. That is simply an illusion.

What I’d like you to be thinking about over the next seven days is

If I truly belong to me (which you do by the way – it is a choice) then what activities will I participate in?

Your Spiritually Fit Room is very individual. For me, a big part of that is Mother Nature.

In my garden, I have a female Budha who is really important to me because she represents the things that I do every day to keep myself anchored. These are things like:

  • Meditation
  • Deep breathing
  • Practicing mindfulness

Doing these daily allows me to come home to me. And for me, that is what belonging is. It may be something different for you and that’s okay.

Again, my invitation to you is to take the next 7 days and really notice:

  • Where you do belong to yourself in that Spiritually Fit Room
  • What brings you joy
  • What activities doe you engage in that make you come alive? Being of Service? Being of support to someone? Sitting by the water?

This might be a great time to create that Joy List. I know that I’ve got on my Bucket List to start taking Flute lessons in September. That is what is going to fill my Spiritually Fit Room up and give me that sense of belonging, of doing something that’s been on every goal list, every year forever.

So, think about what brings you joy.

Where is it that you have that sense of belonging to you? Where do you come home to yourself?
