Here we are in your Emotionally Fit Room as a leader where we continue to delve into this month’s theme: The Power Of Being Versus Doing.
As a leader, you are often busy being that Mama Bear / Papa Bear overlooking everything, which is ultimately your role. However, it is such an intense time for all of you that it is really critical, now more than ever, that you start to unpack some of the unhealthy habits you’ve formed both before and during the pandemic.
How can you check in with that “Being” part of yourself, emotionally?\
For the next seven days, I invite you to be putting into your technology minimally once, ideally 3 times, what is the best time during the day for you to check in with yourself. \
Let’s say for the fun of it that you decide to play full out with me so you set the alarm to go off on your device for 6:00 or 7:00 am, at lunchtime, and again at the end of the day. When that alarm goes off you ask yourself:
How am I feeling? What’s up?
It is those self-actualized leaders, those leaders who have some element of self-awareness of how they feel, that allow them to be better leaders. This is because you are part of the human race.
I hear leaders all the time saying things like:
“You should see what my team is going through”
“You should see what’s happening”
I’m here to remind you that you are part of the human race too. It is really important that you have self-compassion and that you are building in some healthy habits that allow you to connect with your heart and that allow you just to BE.
Have yourself a beautiful day.\
Remember, YOU ARE A POWERHOUSE.
Be more kind to yourself.
Be more compassionate/
Be more forgiving.
Be more loving.
