Does it feel like you’ve lost your zest? Like you’ve forgotten how to experience joy in your life? Like your underwear are getting too tight?
If that is the case then you are suffering from a Spiritual Hangover. That dull, joyless feeling comes along when we forget to deposit into our spirit. It feels very different than a physical hangover but can be just as debilitating.
Would it surprise you to hear that during this current wave of the pandemic, 40% – 50% of people are experiencing some level of depression?
That means that when you look around the room at your team or your family, almost half of them, if not more, are struggling with depression.
With that in mind, I invite you to WRITE A JOY LIST. It is quite easy. Here is what you do:
- Find a quiet spot to sit and reflect on what brings you joy.
- Make a list of all of the things that make you feel joyful and alive
- Be specific. Remember, this list is what is going to fill you up.
Some examples that pop up for me when I think about my Joy List are:
- Digging in my garden
- Spending time with my kids
- Sitting by the lake taking in the sounds, sights, and smells of nature
Once you have come up with your list, take a few minutes before your next meeting to invite your team to make their own list.
Spend an extra few minutes around the supper table with your family and make a Joy List together. You might be surprised to hear something from a loved one that you never realized brought them joy.
I’d love to hear what you have on your Joy List. Comment below and let me know how you plan on creating space in your calendar, your meetings, and your one on ones to help those around you by supporting their Spiritual Health.
BE more kind to yourself.
BE more compassionate.
Be more forgiving.
Be more loving.
Remember, you are a POWERHOUSE.
Wishing you a joyful week.
