Wouldn’t It Be Nice To Get Off The Stress Treadmill?

This is the final week with our “Speak Your Truth” theme so you will be exploring it from your Spiritually Fit Room.

What is your spirit trying to tell you right now? If you could put a voice to your spirit, what would it say?

Would it say that you feel:

  • Joyful?
  • Connected?
  • Aligned with your purpose?
  • Exhausted and shelled out?
  • Like joy and happiness are missing from your life?

This is a great opportunity for you to reflect on this, especially if you are still on the stress treadmill. The only way to get off of it is to step away. I always say that sanity is in the pause and the only way to take that pause is to step away.

Once you’ve allowed yourself to pause, it’s time to ask yourself what is it that my spirit needs and how can I protect my peace right now?

Maybe it is by choosing not to engage with someone who is unhealthy for you. I once had this question come my way and it totally resonated with me: Are you expecting healthy behaviour from an unhealthy person? Isn’t that powerful?

This question allows you to reflect on whether you are giving away your joy and power to yet another drama. Some people you know are going to stay trapped in their cycle of drama but you get to choose whether you are going to join them in the drama or protect your peace by stepping away from it.

The other aspect of all of this is getting honest with yourself when you ask yourself what your spirit needs. Does it need to:

  • Spend time by the water
  • Look over your Joy List
  • Write a letter to someone who may never get it to begin the forgiveness journey
  • Reach out to someone who has mattered to you and show them gratitude

Over the next seven days, my invitation to you is to ask yourself what would your spirit say if it was speaking its truth and what would you do to give it what it needs.

I encourage you to share this with your team, other leaders, and other colleagues because I feel like this is an area where there is a real disconnect for a lot of people that is keeping them on that stress treadmill.
