Our next four-part series looks at The Power Of Letting Go.
I always find this time of year to be so magical. I love watching the leaves fall from the trees. I am pretty confident that the tree doesn’t say something like:“Oh no! I’ve lost a leaf! Yikes! There goes another one! And another one! I’m going to be bare! I’m going to be cold for the winter!”For them, it is a natural progression, a part of the season. It also serves as a great reminder for us that we need to be mindful of having this introspection in the fall. It is important that we ask ourselves:
What do I need to let go of?
This week, you are going to enter into your Mentally Fit Room where you will ask yourself:
What is it that I need to let go of mentally? What is no longer serving me well?
Maybe this will be an old limiting belief that you aren’t good enough, worthy enough, or smart enough. Maybe you’ve been an observer with your thoughts (because you have 90,000 thoughts a day and 80% of them are the same thoughts) and have some awareness of what those are.What we want to do is to be mindful and be an observer of what those thoughts are.
One of the awarenesses that I’ve had recently has been that when I am tired, overwhelmed, stressed, or when I’ve put my hand up and said yes when I shouldn’t have, I might start to complain. I might start complaining in my head about what’s going on rather than taking a 10-second pause. That is something that I’m clearly going to let go much like the trees letting go of their leaves. I need to let go of the complaining and take the 10-second pause to ask myself:
What is it that I need to let go of? Maybe it’s to let go of saying yes to something. Maybe it’s to let go of the notion that Superwoman needs to take over.
I invite you this week to ask yourself:
What is it that you need to let go of that will have the greatest impact in your thinking so you can maximize your potential and protect your peace?
